Connect with King County Councilmember Jorge Barón in Greenwood on Friday, May 29

From Councilmember Barón’s e-newsletter: “I am excited to announce that I will be at the Greenwood Branch Library on Friday, May 29 from 3 pm to 5 pm for my next “Brewing Conversations with Jorge” session. I invite you and your fellow neighbors to stop by to discuss questions, comments, or ideas on how King County can better serve you.

What are these sessions? – An informal opportunity for constituents to drop by when they can and stay for as long as they’d like to connect with me. The goal is to make myself accessible to my constituents.

What can I discuss? – Topics of interest or concern the county has jurisdiction over include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Public transportation,
  • Public health,
  • Human services,
  • County roads and parks,
  • Superior and district courts,
  • Open spaces, and more.

Can’t make it? – If you cannot make this session, please note that there will be additional opportunities to connect with me later this year. If you know you will be stopping by and would like to submit your question(s) in advance, please send them to Jorge.Baron@kingcounty.gov.”

YMCA of Greater Seattle and North Seattle College sign letter of intent to explore new community wellness and fitness collaboration

Great news! The YMCA of Greater Seattle and North Seattle College (NSC) have signed a letter of intent to explore a collaborative relationship that would expand access to aquatics, wellness, and community-building opportunities for North Seattle College students, faculty, and administration and the broader North Seattle community.

Under the proposed relationship, the YMCA and NSC would evaluate the feasibility of developing a new aquatics center on the NSC campus — integrated with the existing Roy Flores Wellness Center and operating the combined facilities through a shared-use model. The vision is to create a welcoming, inclusive destination that supports student success, strengthens health and wellness offerings, and expands access to high-quality community resources.

  1. Hi, I’m a neighbor that’s in the south Haller lake community and we also hear the gunshots and have had a few shootouts in our neighborhood as well. We would like to band together and support you. Can you add me to any information dissemination regarding protests or other action in this general area so that we can join you? And then I can send it to our local Google group. I hear there was a North Aurora Safety Walk on Saturday morning, but I found out after the fact. I didn’t know how that info got out, but I never received anything.
    Thank you.
