Engage your neighbors

Help launch the GCC Outreach and Engagement Committee

First 2017 Meeting of the
 Outreach and Engagement Committee
7:00 PM Wednesday, March 29
The Couth Buzzard, 8310 Greenwood Ave N

On Wednesday, March 29 we’ll have the first meeting of a re-launched Greenwood Community Council committee on neighborhood outreach and engagement.  This committee will focus on bringing new voices into neighborhood discussions, helping people who don’t normally go to meetings get their voice heard, and help develop common ground on issues that polarize people and problems needing resolution in Greenwood.  Some immediate projects might include improving our website, and establishing a promotional restaurant passport program, but all ideas are welcome.

Please join us! We welcome participation large and small. Even just contributing your perspective to brainstorming will be helpful.

Proposed agenda:

  • Introductions
  • Interests and ideas – around the table
  • Summary, action items – what to focus on first.
  • Future meetings, meeting location, etc.

  1. Help SAVE Evans Pool & Green Lake Community Center. What you can do:
=>Attend the Green Lake Community Center Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday, March 14 at the Green Lake CC (gym) at 7 p.m, with seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) Superintendent Jesus Aguirre and SPR Budget and Development Director Michael Shiosaki. Tell them NO PRIVATIZATION! Tell them to make immediate major repairs to our buildings and to start planning to replace the facilities, using public money. Let’s pack this meeting! =>Call City Councilmember Mike O’Brien, at (206) 684-8800 and Susan Golub at SPR, (206) 684-7046, or Susan.Golub@seattle.gov Tell them NO PRIVATIZATION! Tell them to use the money they have on hand to repair and renovate our pool and community center. Also tell them to use the funding authority we gave them in 2014 to pay for a new pool and community center.
=>Join our public Facebook group, “Save Evans Pool & Green Lake Community Center” for updates and to view studies and other documents related to our Evans Pool & Green Lake Community Center facilities.
