The Community Council in association with the Greater Greenwood Design and Development Advocacy Group has proposed that the parcels at 101 NW 85th Street be considered for Parks Acquisition as a part of the Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund.  This site was discussed during the January 2010 GCC meeting and well received by attendees.  Seattle Parks encouraged us to submit it as an Opportunity Fund candidate because they didn’t see it as viable for Neighborhood Parks Acquisition Funds (that is the other half of the Parks and Green Spaces Levy funding).

A draft of the site’s information including advantages and disadvantages is available by clicking on 101 NW 85th St info under Supporting Documentation at the top of this page.

The application was submitted on April 2, 2010 for review by a Levy Citizens Oversight Committee. The project scored very highly and was ranked 4th in the northwest district and 6th overall out of 95 initially recommended projects. However, only the top three projects in each district were recommended to receive funding.

This was the first of a two funding opportunities provided by the Opportunity Fund portion of the Parks and Green Spaces Levy.  Because the project ranked so highly, the GCC intends to resubmit this project for the second funding opportunity when it becomes available.
