Greenwood-Phinney may get a new park! Thanks to the 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy that passed, the Greenwood Phinney Residential Urban Village is eligible to apply for money to acquire and develop a community park.

The first community meeting with Seattle Parks was November 2nd. Since then, thanks to significant community input, we’ve made some progress in identifying multiple sites throughout the neighborhood. A few sites were suggested by community members in Greenwood and Phinney Ridge and the Parks department is currently favoring 3 locations and will look further at alternate locations if needed. The following are the potential sites with notes about their status from the Parks Department:

6802 Greenwood Ave N (abandoned gas station) – not a willing seller

8100 Greenwood Ave N (occupied by Greenwood Quick Stop, Manna Teriyaki, & Aloha Japanese Noodles) – willing seller / high price

8301 Greenwood Ave N (occupied by Dry Cleaners & 2 residences) – willing sellers

Potential Alternate:
7610-7618 Greenwood Ave N (occupied by small apartment & triplex residents)

Seattle Parks is discussing the sale with the landowners.
